Program Activities / Description
ARTSMART STUDY UNITS are multi-week Teacher/ Teaching Artist classroom partnerships that enhance the educational value of HOT Season for Young People performances. ArtSmart lessons give students in-depth preparation for the performance and reveal unexpected ways the work of art relates to their own lives and classroom learning. Activities include three pre-performance residencies led by TPAC Teaching Artists. Aesthetic Education is the heart of ArtSmart. It is a teaching philosophy that values deep engagement with works of art for the broadened perspective and meaningful connections they can inspire. It is a work-of-art centered, inquiry-based, student-driven and multi-modal teaching practice that cultivates ways of knowing essential to a well-rounded education. Classroom activities are designed collaboratively with the teacher to make varied and meaningful curriculum connections.
