Program Activities / Description
Students listen to and analyze songs from various genres of music for use as models for their own songwriting. Mentors will guide students through the process of writing a song, connecting the lyrical content back to melody and song structure. The emphasis of this workshop will be on the writing process, though aspects of music composition will be covered. Mentors can work with the classroom teachers to integrate the songwriting workshop with academic units being covered in class as well as education standards.
