Nashville Opera OnTour presents John Davies’ Jack and the Beanstalk an operatic re-telling of the classic children’s fairy tale. In our story Jack is told to give up his best friend a cow to buy food. Disobeying his mother he trades the cow for magical beans instead and ends up meeting a giant and his wife atop the beanstalk. There he finds out it is the same giant who stole his hen that laid golden eggs! All ends happily when Jack learns a lesson or two and the giant sees the error of his ways and apologizes for being a bully. This opera teaches kids the timeless lesson of “The Golden Rule”. This student friendly 45-minute production is sung in English and set to music from the beloved operettas of Gilbert & Sullivan. We come directly to your school with full sets costumes audience interaction four professional opera singers and a pianist all members of Nashville Opera’s Mary Ragland Young Artist Program.
