Program Activities / Description
Nashville Jazz Workshop provides two professional musicians (either saxophone and piano or vocalist and piano) who will perform and address some of the following introductory topics: 1. What is jazz? (play examples from popular culture) 2. Icons of jazz history (e.g., Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong, John Coltrane). 3. What is improvisation? (show how one small idea generates lots of ideas. Take class examples) 4. Why is listening important? (jazz is a conversation – everyone participates)
